As you can see if you watch the above video, the President of the Sierra Club, has decided that the science of global warming is settled. When told that for the last eighteen years satellites have shown no rise in global temperatures he falls back on the ridiculous idea that the science is settled. Science is never settled. Otherwise the sun would still be orbiting a flat earth.

Sierra club v the truth.

I don’t trust the IPCC.
The latest IPCC (Intergovernmental (Sic) Panel on Climate Change) has changed it’s balance of probabilities of AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) from 90% to 95%.
As an engineer, if any diesel engineer manufacturer tried to sell me a diesel engine that only had a 95% chance of not blowing up in 25 years, I’d put the phone down on him in an instant. I’m not in the business of being killed.
In fact we were sold such a diesel engine in the past due to a previous labour government that bought British at any cost when the country was failing. (No change there it would seem).
The engine in question was the Paxman RPH. These had the dubious quality of deciding, without warning, to disengage the connecting rod and piston from the crankshaft and hurl it out of the crankcase at any unlikely passer bye. It’s even more dangerous when you have an engine room with ten of the blighters in situe. Having had one blow up about two seconds after I’d passed it,I learnt to pass them at speed.
Like the IPCC I’m sure this engine was designed by a committee that was only interested in selling their product to the gullible.
As a callow youth I was promoted to the lofty heights of looking after these instruments of the devil engines, and with youthful enthusiasm looked forward to the challenge. Till I actually had to work on one.
On every other engine I’ve worked on, a simple piston ring change has just entailed removing the cylinder heads, disconnecting the bottom end and removing the piston through the cylinder. Simples.
Not so the Paxman. From the manual: “Place the engine in the turning frame…………” WTF. It boiled down to the fact that they were trying for a market of ships with low head room in their engine room. If they’d visited ships before they had designed this parody of an engine, they would have seen that their are constraints in space in the other two dimensions as well.
This nicely brings me back to the IPCC. They have become fixated on the cause of man made CO2 being the cause of Global warming. As an engineer I consider them a danger to humanity especially as they seem to disregard any other causes, and castigate those who question their theories.
Take one of their latest theories of why the temperature hasn’t risen for the last fifteen years. “It’s all been absorbed by the deep ocean”. Don’t make me larf. Warmer water rises not sinks. Apart from that the Argo buoys that measure ocean temperatures can only measure to a few thousand metres, how do they come by this supposition?
You tell me.

That’ll work then
Cheshire East council thinks that it can go it alone by imposing minimum pricing on booze.
CHESHIRE East Council looks set to go ahead with its plans to crack down on cheap booze despite the Government U-turn.
At the council’s cabinet meeting last month members agreed to endorse the principle of introducing a minimum unit price for alcohol – something David Cameron last year appeared keen on introducing nationally.
Cheshire East looks set to press ahead with its plans – despite the Government’s apparent change of heart earlier this month.
Cheshire East is designated by the “G” on the map below. Now if I had a supermarket in “E”, Kidsgrove, I’d be rubbing my hands with glee.
I’m seriously thinking of investing in a white van, and just sit over the boarder.
Fuckwits, the lot of them.

You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
It would seem that you can’t do anything these days that will not get the Righteous screaming with indignation.
Speaking at the parish council's meeting on Tuesday, chairman councillor Mark Rolle said he had been offended by the slur on the sign.
"The realms of decency were overstepped – we could be branded a village of bigots."
and
Councillor Paul Boyes agreed and said: "I personally find it offensive. I think it is our duty to say something."
and more
But Councillor Angela Trend disagreed and said: "I found it offensive. Some people aren't confident enough to go in and make a stand."
And of course the plod were involved. Natch.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said police had "spoken with the hotel's management about the issues."
What was the offence, you ask? Remember the Christian couple who were castigated for turning away a gay couple? This is the exact opposite. It shows that we have a class of person that is professionally offended.
What was the offence?
Police investigated a village hotel owner for erecting a "Poofters welcome here" sign, in reference to a recent court ruling that B&Bs are obliged to accept homosexual customers.

And you wonder why the crime rate is high?
A police force had to spend thousands of pounds fixing vehicles after officers put petrol in diesel cars — despite “talking” fuel caps warning them not to.
Officers from Essex Police used the wrong fuel 332 times in the past seven years at a cost of £62,000.
Figures disclosed by a Freedom of Information Request show that police chiefs were first alerted to the problem in 2008. They decided to take action by installing yellow fuel caps and a warning system on each car at a total cost of £4,000.
But despite the precaution, diesel police cars were wrongly filled with petrol 110 times in the following two years.
Filler caps at £4,000 a car! Why couldn’t they’ve just written above the filler in felt tip?
