Going

I received a message from Google this morning telling me that they are going to shut down their “Reader” application. Bloody annoying if you ask me, as I use it follow blogs and the news.

Anyone know of another programme that I can import my RSS feeds into?

  1. You could try Feedly. They're offering 'seamless transition' with Google Reader but we've heard that before!

    1. Second that. Currently trying it out. Uses Google's feed in the background so all your settings/subscriptions are kept when you start using them.

    2. Thanks for the suggestion Dioclese, but Feedly won't work via Opera browser.

  2. Although I use it multiple times every day, it has always frustrated me in that it's easy to add 'Subscriptions'; but users have to jump thro' hoops to permanently Unsubscribe.

Is supposed to be very Google Reader like, but the increased demand means they are limiting feed imports for now

  9. If you use Firefox try the Sage RSS Reader add-on. Small, clean, newspaper style display, side bar feed list with easy import/export options.

  10. I swapped this morning to Feedly as well, its got an Android client which is a must as I read most of the blogs on my smartphone, and it also has a Google Chrome app.

I quite like it so far, and its imported all of my google reader feeds across.

  11. I use google reader too, only because it's handy. I was thinking about writing my own RSS feed reader. It will probably take me until July to write it. :)
