In no way is this post mocking what our forebears did. It’s just to show that even in the dark days of WW2. They just learnt to adapt in what was the truly British way.

ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the fictional duo, Charters and Caldicott, who hammed up their English insouciance in a few films of the 30's and 40's, by nattering about the Cricket - usually during a scene of high drama and peril.
