Anti Smoking Manual

A little snippet from an Antismoking manual

Keeping a High Profile in the Media

Even if you’ve won all of the bylaw amendments you sought – and you’re absolutely exhausted– your work isn’t over yet. For the next few months, strive to ensure there are positive media stories, letters to the editor, etc., that tout how well the bylaw changes are working. There will no doubt be a backlash from smokers in the beginning until they get used to the changes. In the meantime, you have to counter their negative comments in the media, in comment sections of online news pieces and blogs, on radio call‐in shows, etc. Your job is to make politicians continue to believe that they did the right thing. It is not unheard of for councillors to backtrack on their decision and water down legislation.

Monitoring Enforcement Efforts

As with any smoke‐free places legislation, enforcement is a concern of both the public and politicians. Smokers will say that smoke‐free outdoor spaces bylaws cannot be enforced, why should police officers waste their time on them, enforcement will cost a fortune, etc.
In fact, smoke‐free outdoor spaces legislation is, by and large, self‐enforcing. Moreover, other than signage, it won’t cost much. It will take a few months before people get used to having to move away from others to smoke outside, but it will happen. Members of the public will start to ask smokers to butt out because they feel they have the power of the law behind them. No, we will never have 100% smoke‐free outdoor public spaces, but if they can at least be regulated, non‐smokers have a better chance of avoiding second‐hand smoke when they are trying to enjoy the outdoors.
Plant stories in the media about non‐smokers politely asking smokers to move to a designated smoking area or outside the smoke‐free area and smokers complying. Create the impression that the bylaw is working and it will!

That emboldened sentence really takes the biscuit. So lying  to the public is OK then.

Stalin would be proud. And my blood pressure has rocketed.

H/T to Freedom 2 Choose for pointing me to that piece of odious shit.

Don’t forget Drinkers and fatties, now they’ve perfected the method on smokers, you’re next.

Odious Belgian Twat

No offence to the Belgians. But.

rumpoy

If you’re wondering. I’m referring to Herman Von Rompuy.* Yes that little man that came from nowhere as unelected President of the Council of Europe.

He’s just made a speech that should worry most of you who think that this country has any sovereignty left.

Firstly he is unshakeable in the view that the Euro is in our best interests.

Ever since, the fate of Europe and the euro have been intertwined.
The euro is the most visible and the most palpable sign of our common destiny. It is also our most
powerful tool.
Sharing a currency means that the decisions of one, affect all.
We have seen how! This spring, the crisis of a country of 10 million people became the crisis of 350
million people; early May, it even turned into a global threat.

And here is what he really wants.

We have together to fight the danger of a new Euro-scepticism.
This is no longer the monopoly of a few countries.
In every Member State, there are people who believe their country can survive alone in the globalised world.
It is more than an illusion: it is a lie!

Yes I am old enough to admit to voting for the Common Market. No Mr Rompy Pompy. I didn’t vote for a fucking United States of Europe. I want my country back.

* No I didn’t spell it wrong by mistake.

Don’t even think about buying property in Wales.

ciggie

Not if your a smoker.

Dr Tony Jewell, chief medical officer for Wales, said that stopping people lighting up in their own homes would protect their children from the dangers of passive smoking.

and.

'It could be seen as the final piece of the protection picture or at least adding to the growing public consensus on the social acceptability of smoking.'

I suspect they will do one of those surveys in Wales in the near future. One of those that is phrased like this.

“Should smoking be banned in homes for the sake of the cheeeldren?”

Of course they’ll get an 80% yes vote for that.

So then they’ll produce a law which they won’t have a hope in hell of enforcing.

I don’t live in Wales but if I did I’d just love a state sponsored, No smoking enforcement officer, to just try it on. It is my property and it is nothing to do with the state with what I do within it within reason. (Obviously murder is slightly over the top).

What has become of this country?

I need to sit down in a darkened room.

With a cigarette.

Thanks to the Angry Exile for this

A bit Smellie to me.

Remember watching this.

Well it would appear that he has got away with it. Although there maybe  disciplinary action against him.

A Metropolitan Police officer accused of striking a woman with a metal baton at a G20 demonstration has been cleared of common assault.

Sgt Delroy Smellie denied attacking Nicola Fisher, 36, of Brighton, at the G20 protest in London in April 2009.

To me this was beyond belief.

Judge Wickham added: "I am satisfied he honestly believed it was necessary to use force to defend himself."

Watch the footage again and just look at their relevant sizes, for Christ's sake.

This is what happens when there is no jury.

The country really has gone to the pigs dogs.

Bring it on John Mann

Tell me about the money, John

John Mann MP gets a bit touchy when he asked about an expenses repayment he made of £2,395.02

He says he claimed it on the wrong forms, and can't be arsed to reclaim it.

Every time somebody asks him about it, they're threatened with a libel action.

So, how about it, John, sue me if you like, but tell me what the money was for.

--------------------------------

note - To my fellow bloggers, cut and paste and put on your blog! He can't 'sue' us all.
