I was just wondering if those scanners at American airports are really designed to re-programme the citizen’s mind to accept a left leaning ideology.

A relation of mine emigrated to the USA a few years ago to be near his family. Before he left he was of the same political stance as Margaret Thatcher. A believer in a smaller state and less state interference in our daily lives.

The other day he phoned for a chat to see how his relations over here were bearing up. Of course a general chit chat ensued.

However I was astounded when we started on the subject of healthcare (Brought on by discussing the health of a couple of elderly relatives),  he started extolling the virtues of Obamacare and likening it to our “Marvellous” NHS. Of course I’m a tactful sort of person and did try to explain that the NHS has grown into a money devouring monster that is pauperising the nation. I also pointed out that if you feel ill, don’t expect to get a doctor’s appointment for several days, you certainly won’t find a doctor to come out to visit out of hours, and forget about a doctor at the weekend.

The subject was subtly changed to the good old stalwart. The weather. Here again I was surprised. He launched into a tirade about how we should reduce our carbon emissions to save the world from global warming, citing droughts in the mid west of the USA and Hurricanes on the west coast.

Of course I (tactfully)  pointed out that weather is not climate, and in fact the drought in the mid west last year was far less severe than that suffered in the 1930’s. I also pointed out that major hurricanes in the last decade have seen a decline .

He has bought into the green propaganda and insisted that the science is settled on the subject of catastrophic global warming. I countered (tactfully) with the fact that the globe has stopped warming for the last 15 years and may stay the same for at least a further five years according to the Met Office.

I wonder if he will ring me again?

Then Obama is toast.

American drones were in the skies above the U.S. consulate in Benghazi as the deadly attack that killed ambassador Christopher Stevens unfolded, it has been revealed.

Defense department officials considered sending troops in to rescue the ambassador and staff, according to CBS News, but ultimately decided not to .

They would haven been able to watch the attack on-screen as it unfolded.

And other paragraphs are even more damning.

The revelations came a day after it emerged that U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens repeatedly pleaded with the State Department to ramp up his security team in Libya -- requests that the Pentagon ultimately denied -- in the weeks, days and hours leading up to the terrorist attack that killed him and three other Americans, newly released cables have revealed.

And

The letter claims that Obama had a political motivation in rejecting Stevens' security requests, since the president was eager to show improving conditions in Libya after the U.S.-led international operation that toppled Libya dictator Moamar Gadhafi.

It just goes to show that Obama was more interested in his presidential campaign than in actually protecting his countrymen. It’s an indictment of the new political class in the modern day. All they they seek is the holding of high office. No thought of serving their country.

Of course we have the same self serving clique in the UK, whether they be Cameron, Clegg, or Milliband. All they can see, is the vision of crossing the threshold into No.10 and nothing more.

I want to see more than “soundbite” politics. I want to see a real conviction politician running our country. The problem I see is that these Westminster bubble class and the MSM really aren’t attuned to the reality that is suffered by the population as a whole.

We need a Prime Minister that refuses to listen to his advisors’ thought for the day, and actually spends some time thinking about it. Then have the guts to say “That’s shite”, You’re fired” 

Sadly I thing I’ll be dead before I see it happen.

Has the Republic sunk this low? It quite amazed me when these two twats were chosen to represent Ireland in the Eurovision song contest (not that I watched it).

Gordon has given away a sliver of my early life

Gordon went to Washington bearing gifts. I read that one of them was a pen holder made from the timber of HMS Gannet, a sloop of war. What readers will not know is that this scribe spent three years of his formative youth onboard that mighty vessel. This vessel was used for some years as an accomodation ship for the school known as the "Training ship Mercury".
