Drug smuggling Lite

Much has been made in the MSM today of two girls caught drug smuggling in Peru.

Two British girls locked up in Peruvian jail have not eaten for seven days and are said to be terrified and hysterical after they were arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle £1.5million of cocaine out of the country.

Michaella McCollum Connolly, 20, and Melissa Reid, 19, are being held in maximum security cells following claims the pair may have been working for a South American cartel.

However this is the tip of a very large iceberg.

A few years back whilst on patrol on counter drug ops in the Caribbean we received intelligence that their was a fishing vessel that was a prime suspect due to the course it was heading. After shadowing it from a point astern, over the horizon, we were ordered to close and board it at first light in the morning.

Morning came and we pounced. Actually No! On demanding full power from the diesel electric power system a Thyristor decided to blow, leaving us almost dead in the water. Well there’s also tomorrow.

Tomorrow came and things actually went to plan. After working up to full speed we launched our Lynx helicopter with orders to tell the fishing boat to heave to. (Nautical term for STOP). Of course the fishing vessel stopped. You would too, if you saw a grey chopper  circling you and pointing a Mk 48 mini gun in your general direction.

Anyway I digress.

On catching up with the fishing vessel our boarding team discovered quite a haul of cocaine in 1Kg packets. How many you ask? 3,200 Kg in all. Approximately 1 billion dollars at todays estimated street value.

We boarded another two vessels in a two month period in which forensics also estimated that they had carried large quantities similar to our bust.

So when the MSM crow about a mere 11 Kg, then they’re being distracted from the big picture.

THEY hate bloggers

By THEY I mean all those nannying tyrants such as Tobacco control. Alcohol concern, the greens, and the econuts who espouse useless wind turbines and pathetic solar panels. To name a few. Over the last few years the supine Main Stream Media (MSM) have been led by the nose to believe everything they’re told. Instead we should be casting those prod noses down to the 9th circle of hell for their lies and obfuscations,

What they haven’t been able to cope with is Bloggers.

The nanny statists are conditioned to think as a group, and this is where their demise will begin. Their groupthink doesn’t allow for dissenting voices, questioning the status quo.

Bloggers are so different. bloggers are like a swarm of bees, each one acts independently gathering nectar (information) but are linked with each other in a myriad of interconnecting Hyperlinks. This is where the likes of the Tobacco control industry will lose the war. They win the battle by influencing the MSM with their Groupthink, but eventually, given sufficient resolve, Bloggers will win the war.

It will be a long war as bloggers have finite resources, and are not funded from the public purse, or are set up as fake charities, like some.

The one thing that bloggers like me and many others have, is an enquiring mind. When I started this blog I was on my own. Over the last three years I’ve managed to garner a mass of information. I’ve looked as a smoker into second hand smoke and seen through the haze of untruthfulness  I’ve looked as an engineer, and seen the great enlightenment of AGW, slowly being exposed as  a money making scam by the idiots that want a catastrophe at all costs, to raise it. I’ve seen the medical profession trying to tell me that I’m drinking far more than their made up level of units that I must not surpass.

By now if you’ve read this far you’ll probably be thinking, what a conceited fool.

But the point I am making is that I didn’t come to these revelations alone. It was the fact, that out in the blogosphere there is a vast amount of information and research that is never produced in the MSM. The MSM don’t see it, they’re too busy being tucked into their comfort blanket.

Anyway enough of that. I’m going to turn on the heating, light up a cigarette, and have a large whisky.

Silencing Science

ciggie

An interesting article  of how the science about the non effects of passive smoking by Enstrom and Kabat (2003), were suppressed by the MSM. A couple of paragraphs reproduced below.

This paper examines the silencing of science, that is, efforts to prevent the making of specific scientific claims in any or all of the arenas in which these claims are typically reported or circulated. Those trying to mute the reporting or circulation of scientific claims are termed “partisans.” The paper examines silencing through a systematic examination of the “rapid responses” to a smoking study published in the British Medical Journal claiming that second-hand smoke is not as dangerous as conventionally believed. Media
coverage of the smoking study is also examined, as is the question of whether there is self-silencing by the media regarding doubts about the negative effects of passive smoke. The results suggest that the public consensus about the negative effects of passive smoke is so strong that it has become part of a regime of truth that cannot be intelligibly questioned.

And towards the end:

Finally, we perused articles on the scientific effects of smoking. Notably, more coverage was devoted to second-hand rather than first-hand smoke. In the latter case, an interesting check of the self-silencing hypothesis comes from examining media coverage of
the possible beneficial effects of smoking. Smoking may benefit people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia; some forms of inflammatory bowel disease also seem to improve with smoking (e.g., Doll et al., 2000). Despite raging scientific controversies
over possible benefits, there were just a few newspaper stories on the issue. Significantly, the claims about positive effects of smoke were treated in an incredulous and mocking fashion.

All of the stories on second-hand smoke were examined, and the results revealed a strikingly one-sided discourse consistent with self-silencing by the media. Specifically, out of more than 500 articles examined, fewer than 10 afforded any sense of either scientific
uncertainty or of negative findings challenging the prevailing consensus. The huge remainder disregard the conventions of balancing and controversy (allowing at best a short paragraph to smoking defenders), and in place of these media staples presented a dutiful and credulous account of the dangers of passive smoke. Thus a recent British report presented at a conference of the Royal Society of Physicians in London on 17 May 2004 garnered the following headlines in the British media (New Scientist, 2004):

Passive smoking numbers shock
Passive smoking kills one bar worker a week
Passive smoking is workplace killer
Passive-smoking survey reveals startling death rate
Cost of Passive Smoking on Barmaids and Waiters
Dying for a passive cigarette
One person per week dies in British hospitality industry from . . .

There you have it. They lie by omission.

Now, whatever else could this study apply to? Hmmm?

Wind turbines and solar panels?

Alcohol?

Red meat?

Trans fats? (Obesity)

Salt?

And the latest. Sugar.

Moral of this article: Question everything you read or hear in the MSM.

Saying as it is

Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister!
Written by a housewife, to her daily newspaper. This is one pissed off woman.

'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July 2002, and in New York on 11 Sept 2001, and have continually threatened to do so since?

Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day in
London , and in downtown Manhattan , and in a field in Pennsylvania ?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for
incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11 and 7/7.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off
Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide
bombs.

I'll care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of
speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:
I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank:
I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner - who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and 'fed special food' that is paid for by my taxes - is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:
I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and
other times 'Quran.' Well, believe me!! you guessed it ......
I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends.
Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous
behaviour!
If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you
choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add:
'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. Our soldiers don't have that problem.'
I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you forward all this.

Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The British Soldier.
3. The Canadian Soldier.
4. The US Soldier, and
5. The Australian Soldier
One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THEM.
AMEN!

Bravo.

Climategate and the death of the MSM

This article in the Telegraph also caught my eye today.

barbecue

Climategate: the ailing 'mainstream' media are committing suicide by ignoring the scoop of the century.

A well crafted article by Gerald Warner asserting that the MSM may well have shot themselves in the foot by attempting to ignore the very fact that a great many people have doubts about AGW. A vast number of whom actually do have relevant credentials to understand the science.

And he has this to say about BBC Pravda:

That is the despised organisation that relentlessly inflicts climate alarmist propaganda, fairy tales, “bedtime stories” on the British public, in the style of Radio Moscow, circa 1954 (“Implement the resolutions of the 23rd Congress…” “We have 27 minutes to save the polar bears from melting…”). No intelligent or inquiring individual believes, respects or trusts the BBC. Ditto the print media that is similarly spewing out Al Gore’s trashy superstition.

And his final words:

It seems less than likely. The Mainstream Media are hanging themselves – it is doubtful that they can any longer be described as mainstream. These are turkeys voting for Christmas.

Why 'climategate' won't stop greens

Even the Canadians are questioning AGW.

An article in the Ottawa Sun has a go.

If you're wondering how the robot-like march of the world's politicians towards Copenhagen can possibly continue in the face of the scientific scandal dubbed "climategate," it's because Big Government, Big Business and Big Green don't give a s*** about "the science."

They never have.

I must say I agree with the above sentiment.

Now they and their media shills -- who sneered that all who questioned their phony "consensus" were despicable "deniers," the moral equivalent of those who deny the Holocaust -- are the ones in denial about the enormity of the scandal enveloping them.
We have our own homegrown media shill. The Beeb spring to mind?

So they desperately try to portray it as the routine "messy" business of science, lamely insisting, "nothing to see here folks, move along."

Pretty much everything that happens in this country is met with that sentence these days.

The moment they convinced politicians the way to avert the End of Days was to put a price on emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the unholy alliance of Big Government, Big Business and Big Green was forged.
Mmm. Pretty much what I've been thinking for a while.

What about saving the planet, you ask? This was never about saving the planet. This is about money and power. Your money. Their power.

Yep agree with that.

Anyway the whole article is here. I think we ought follow the advice at the end and let those in power in this country know how we feel

They've got there at last

I'm glad that the MSM have finally caught up to the fact of the loss of our civil Liberties. Better late than never.

This article by Suzanne Moore in the mail put's it rather well.

Joni Mitchell

And I always liked that song from Joni Mitchell.
