“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
“Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.”
Winston Spencer Churchill
Churchill was by far the greatest, and by leaps and bounds the most prescient, leader of the 20th century. His observations of Islam were not merely generic. He also had some very keen observations regarding specifically the Saudi's Wahhabi sect of Islam - the sect that is literally at the heart of all of radical Islam today. Here is what Churchill said about them:
ReplyDelete"A large number of Bin Saud's followers belong to the Wahabi sect, a form of Mohammedanism which bears, roughly speaking, the same relationship to orthodox Islam as the most militant form of Calvinism would have borne to Rome in the fiercest times of [Europe's] religious wars.
The Wahhabis profess a life of exceeding austerity, and what they practice themselves they rigorously enforce on others. They hold it as an article of duty, as well as of faith, to kill all who do not share their opinions and to make slaves of their wives and children. Women have been put to death in Wahhabi villages for simply appearing in the streets.
It is a penal offence to wear a silk garment. Men have been killed for smoking a cigarette and, as for the crime of alcohol, the most energetic supporter of the temperance cause in this country falls far behind them. Austere, intolerant, well-armed, and blood-thirsty, in their own regions the Wahhabis are a distinct factor which must be taken into account, and they have been, and still are, very dangerous to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

If we had listened to Churchill from about 1915 to 1940, we would have 1) fully supported the White Revolution to stop the Bolshevik takeover of Russia; 2) Confronted Hitler in 36/37 when, according to interviews with Nazi generals post WWII, it most certainly would have stopped the German arms build up and spelled the end for Hitler,; and 3) Supported the Hashemites over the Wahhabis in the war over Arabia, thus denying the savages of that religion the billions of petrodollars they have used for the last near century to radicalize Islam.
How many lives would have been saved had we listened to Churchill on either side of the pond? My count puts it well over 200 million.
People like Churchill are a rare breed. Looking to history, it seems we only get his ilk coming around about once every other century.
Thanks for that GW. Interesting thoughts.
