  1. Very good. I'll be sending that link to a few friends.

Here's one I've liked for years:
The Project Construction Cycle - The Tree Swing

And, of course, in my menial experience the Senior Managers' Plan of the Six Project Stages has always held true:
    1 - Wild enthusiasm
    2 - Disillusionment
    3 - Despair
4 - Search for the Guilty
5 - Punishment of the Innocent
    6 - Promotion of the non-Participants

  2. I've seen the tree swing before. It really shows how projects can go wrong.

  3. There is, of course, a second level beyond WD40 - if it still doesn't move, hit it with a hammer. Repeatedly.

  4. I will have to send that one to some friends. I always liked this one.

  5. If it moves, oil it. If it doesn't, paint it. If it doesn't but should, apply the precision adjustment tool otherwise known as a knock-o-meter...aka hammer.

  6. Comments above indicate that hammers are clearly in with engineers. The expression, as first I learned it, was: There is no problem that cannot be solved with a hammer of sufficient size.

    Best regards

  7. Another great engineering expression: If it ain't bust, don't fix it.

This one, IMHO, explains nearly all of our political problems too. The trouble is the bastards have no judgement on the meaning of "bust".

    Best regards
