I’m not alone

In my belief, religion, reasoning that CO2 doesn’t cause any significant warming of the planet, this man is probably going to be hounded by the high priests of climate change for his heresy.

clark

Professor Ian Clark just does not see any evidence of oil sands contributing to global warming. That’s quite a stand to take in the face of a global environmental community that considers the development of the Canadian heavy oil industry tantamount to hastening the end of the world.

But Prof. Clark can claim to know a bit more about the science behind climate change than the average person. As a professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Ottawa, he focuses on paleoclimatology — the study of changes in climate taken on the scale of the entire history of earth — and isotope hydrology, which determines the age of ice or snow, which can help indicate climate conditions in the past.

But what  sin has he has committed? His research indicates that the Earth warms before levels of CO2 rise.

However, the rise in CO2 lags the rise in temperature by about 800 years. This shows that CO2 does not play a role in the warming, and even a reinforcing role must be minor considering the lag. When the climate starts to cool, CO2 remains high, again for hundreds of years, and so plays no role in sustaining the warm climate, as the climate cools despite the high CO2.

He’ll burn in hell if the AGWers’ get their way.

  1. "He’ll burn in hell if the AGWers’ get their way", maybe they won't since America seems to be scaling back on Calamity Climate these days leaving only Britain committed to going back to the stone age.

  2. Everything the good professor says has been known in proper scientific circles for some time, the trouble is M.P.s live in a bubble/are not particularly scientifically aware/follow the party/money line and only when they receive lots of imformation otherwise will they begin to react. CAGW is dying on its feet but the supporters of the cause are hanging on to the end, jut like the E.U. kommisars in fact as both are closely intwined.

  3. Yes to the comment above. The CO2 lag is a decades old observation. It got ignored over Mann's hockey stick invention, Briffa's Yamal tree ring data, and Jim Hansen's ever changing temperature record. It's all on its last legs today, holding on by a single untested hypothesis - that all the missing warming in the 15 years of surface temps is somehow going on in the deep ocean sink.

  4. This has nothing to do with your post above but its the only way I can see a way to say this.

The guy circled in red in this video clip http://youtu.be/anQ0GYoykqg had just been thrown out of pub in Hull for smoking. He comes back with a chainsaw; well you can see the rest.
The thing that got me were the number of people who eventually got him.

I totally support your right to smoke if thats what you want to do. I also support my right not to have your smoke forced on me in an enclosed public space.
I would be more than happy to come and have a long chat at your house with the beer, wine, scotch and fags, and talk about ships and engines and the Far East, in the expectation you would be puffing away, that would be my choice. I would also like to chat with you at my house on the same basis but without the fags, mind you it would only be the wife here on the scotch, I don't drink shorts.

I am not for one moment suggesting that become drinking buddies but I just wanted to get over that some smokers can be a bit OTT and there are a lot of us who do support you, but at the same time don't want the smoke ourselves.

    Does this make sense?

Anyway off to the Sportsman pub in Huddersfield for some real ale with the wife and friends and then to the Chilli Lounge (http://www.chilliloungehuddersfield.co.uk/)

    Cheers for a good blog.

    Daedalus.
