The Guardian's required registration is one more step on the road to licensed Internet usage or Internet IDs. Web anonymity will become a thing of the past, along with free speech and physical money.
Mailinator.com is useful for throwaway addresses, mail is viewable (by everyone) and then deleted after a few hours. Useful for signing up to things that you never want to be contacted by.
