Well I never

I’ve just tried out the experiment below.

It works, it works.

  1. What a pathetic excuse to show a scantily clad female. Anyone can see why the remote doesn't work - all those I/R emitting candles are blanking the signal...

As a matter of fact many problems with I/R remotes are now the fault of Chris Huhnes favourite low energy CFL lamps. These have high frequency ballasts, and the light flicker they produce can (and does) interfere with TV's, VCR's, DVD's etc.

  2. I'm slowly changing CFL's for LED's. Expensive but give a better light plus they're estimated to have a life of between 30,000 and 50,000 hrs.

    (Depending on who you believe).

And they use half the energy of a CFL.

  3. I still run the conventional fluorescent lamps that I installed over 30 years ago. They may not look pretty, but must have saved us a fortune in electricity over that time.

And they need virtually no warm-up time, last much longer, and only the actual lamp needs changing, not the entire lamp & ballast...

  4. Picky picky: " .. aim the camera toward the infra red sensors on your remote .. "

They are transmitters, not sensors. Women!!

Of course she could have got up of the sofa walked two steps to the TV and changed channel.

Might have made for a better video too.
