Pragmatism?

The things you overhear.

It happened in an Underground station in London .
There were protesters on the concourse handing out pamphlets on the evils of Britain .
I politely declined to take one.
An elderly woman behind me was getting off the escalator and a young (20-ish) female protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely> declined.
The young protester put her hand on the woman's shoulder as a gesture of friendship and in a very soft voice said, 'Madam, don't you care about the children of Iraq ?'
The elderly woman looked up at her and said, 'My dear, my father died in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea and my grandson in Afghanistan . All three died so you could have the right to stand here and bad mouth our country. If you touch me again, I'll stick this umbrella up your arse and open it.'

That would be my mother’s sentiments if she was still alive.

  2. "The children of Iraq?" Yes I care about them to the same extent that Islamic jihadists care about our children when they set their bombs off.
The main difference is that I have no intention of bombing their innocent civilians nor do I advocate that anyone else should do so. Shame Bush and Blair didn't apply the same principal...

Your details have been recorded...you can look forward to your enrollment in a correctional behaviour class. Repeat after me - "I must obey"!

  4. " ... don't you care about the children of Iraq" ? ..

Errm .. no, why .. is it an EUSSR "requirement" now or something ?

In fact, I don't give a flying fuck about the children of Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, India or Afghanistan either .. apart from the fact that one day, they'll arrive here to milk the system & to try turning my country into replicas of the sort of shitholes they've just been so keen to get away from ..

  5. It might make a change if that nice Mr Cameron read these posts which are indicative of the mood of the country at the moment. But then again he's a twat.

  6. The stuff you always think of saying - ten minutes after the moment has passed.

  7. Personally, I think she should have just stuck it up their arse and then explained later, politely of course
