The Scots Greys, the Skins and Royal Irish Dragoons were there, with the Scots & Irish Guards, the "1st & worst", the Black Watch, Munster Fusiliers, the HLI, Gordons, Royal Scots & Welch Fusiliers, KOSBies, Cameronians, Cameron Highlanders, Argylls and the Connaught Rangers.

The KOSBies were also at Arnhem, as were the Polish Parachute Brigade.

I'm all for celebrating English achievements but not by denigrating the sacrifice of others.Surreptitious Evilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15393411103584747731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508346572086151757.post-72711087016096826122011-09-03T21:45:27.505+01:002011-09-03T21:45:27.505+01:00Perhaps it is too late to get England back. There ...Perhaps it is too late to get England back. There are EU maps from 2006 showing the regions of the EU, and scarcely a soul has uttered a cheep about it, certainly not the Conservative Party. Probably the reason was no one ever thought it was possible, certainly I didn't, so why waste breath talking about it?
But now it appears to be a done thing.
However, it is not easy to obtain a reproducible map showing the new Regional EU.
In case anyone out there is at all interested, here is a list of the regions of that which used to be known as England.
The Name "England" has disappeared, although "Scotland", "Ireland", "Wales" remain.
In the latest incarnation the South of England becames joined to the North of France, and the new region given a (of course) French name..."Trans Manche".
So the Channel has gone also, and becomes a mere sleeve.
Here is the list of the regions, in the original they are links, giving information about the Regions.

East Midlands (EM)
Eastern (E)
London (L)
North East (NE)
North West (NW)
South East (SE)
South West (SW)
West Midlands (WM)
Yorkshire and The Humber (YH)

Schoolchildren of the future will be taught that ditties such as FE's, above, are examples of curious
tribal rituals that caused the WW's I & II.

Welcome back,
Brgds.Peter Meliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04034699363349135221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508346572086151757.post-38014848683357683052011-09-03T18:52:30.817+01:002011-09-03T18:52:30.817+01:00Welcome back.
