it’s just climate

So they’re slowly capitulating.

The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years.

The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century.

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997. (My embolden)

That was kept pretty quiet. The article goes on:

According to a paper issued last week by the Met Office, there is a  92 per cent chance that both Cycle 25 and those taking place in the following decades will be as weak as, or weaker than, the ‘Dalton minimum’ of 1790 to 1830. In this period, named after the meteorologist John Dalton, average temperatures in parts of Europe fell by 2C.

However, it is also possible that the new solar energy slump could be as deep as the ‘Maunder minimum’ (after astronomer Edward Maunder), between 1645 and 1715 in the coldest part of the ‘Little Ice Age’ when, as well as the Thames frost fairs, the canals of Holland froze solid.

Time to buy a new coat.

  1. Sorry; but I've got to wait until the BBC reports it ;-)

  2. We will doubtless read on the BBC website that thanks to the thousands of bird mincers we've erected, and our success in keeping third world nations firmly in the stone age, we seem to have (narrowly) averted catastrophic global warming.

    They will continue...

"But we can't rest on our laurels. No time to be complacent. Just because we've beaten it for now (thanks be to those selfless climate scientists like Mann, Gore et al, may they be eternally praised) doesn't mean we can rest in our drive for all nations to return to the idyllic days of pre-industrial revolution. We need to pour ever more taxpayers' money into climate research"

WV - flumsha. Not a bad description of climate science, as practiced by the University of East Anglia.

you'll have to wait till hell freezes over then.

As above but this time they'll want more money in the interim.

The old phrase 'All heaven rejoices when a sinner repents' comes to mind......

  5. Like I said on another fellow bloggers post about the same thing.
    A. I never believed in that global warming shit from the beginning. Especially the man made variation. Even if I did I'd find great humor in it because
B...I read an article and study years ago that said not only were we overdue for an ice age; but we were MASSIVELY overdue and the only thing that has held it off up til this point is "man made global warming" through our "green house gas emissions". Otherwise we'd have had our noses, peckers and various other important appendages drop off because of frost bite by now....*snicker*
