It would be safe to assume that arsenic digestion was a by product of some sort of habit developed and practiced at the time. So, if he died of arsenic poisoning, already having built a tolerance up for it during the span of his natural life, it would have been an extreme amount of arsenic that would be needed to kill him, although the traces that were found was right around average.
